It is so wonderful and joyful to talk of the exaltation of Jesus Christ and it is in this light that I will highlight two noted events in Acts 2:33-39. The first noted event is the exaltation of Jesus Christ at the right hand of God and the second is the fulfillment of the Father’s promise (Luke 24:49) and of Jesus Christ in giving the Spirit baptism to men. Peter stated that God made Jesus “both Lord and Christ” and even when the Jews heard this, they were cut to the heart.
They were brought to see that they were without hope except through the mercy of the one whom they had crucified (Acts 2:37). Then, they inquired of what to do. Peter had the right answer when he said, “Repent and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you, to your children and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2:39). It is for our good that Jesus is exalted. We should reap the benefits of his exaltation.
