Police said last night that they found several people dead after shots were heard in northern Switzerland.
Residents heard shots in the town of Wuerenlingen. Officers then found "several" dead people lying outside and in a house in a residential area, police said.
All the dead were adults. Police said that they were working to identify them and that the circumstances of and possible motive for the shooting remain unclear. Wuerenlingen is a town of some 4500 people northwest of Zurich, near the German border.
Meanwhile, two police officers have been shot dead in the US state of Mississippi and police were last night looking for a suspect.
Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict said the men were shot in Hattiesburg and taken to hospital where they were confirmed dead, according to the Clarion-Ledger. At least one of the officers was alive when he arrived at hospital. Officials did not say what the motive was for the attack.
Police said they believed the suspect stole a police car after the shooting, which was later found abandoned. The Clarion-Ledger said it was the first police killing in Hattiesburg in 30 years.
