At the age of 29, Nhu Y, a girl in Dien Quang commune, Dien Ban town,
Quang Nam province, looks like a 50-year-old woman. She is only 1.48
meters tall and weighs 25 kg. For years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Y, 29, eats six cans of rice per meal
and drinks 15 liters of water per day. Yet she is very thin and short.
Her mother, Le Thi Tam, 70, said: "One day Y takes five meals, with four cans of rice – equal to the total rice for the whole family per meal. After that she eats a full pot of rice gruel and 1 kg of rice vermicelli. After the meal, she drinks a whole pot of water. She does not use glasses but a big pot."
At birth, Nhu Y weighed 2.3 kg but after only 3 months, her weight was up to 10 kg. Going to the elementary school, she was always a good student. Her skin was white and smooth.
When she was 13, she got the first, which was also the last, period.

Nhu Y had to quit school at the 9th grade. Her health began falling but she started eating more and more. She also began getting older very quickly.
Nhu Y eats a lot but she has trouble with her digestion. She eats and then vomits all, so she always feels hungry.
"I know that I will vomit after eating but I cannot stop eating because my legs will be swollen," Nhu Y said.
She often faints because of anaemia.
The girl earns her living by selling lottery tickets in Da Nang. For years, she has travelled 30 kilometers from home to Da Nang city to sell lottery tickets..
