In an interview with New York Times, CEO Scott Flanders said "you're now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And it's just passé at this juncture."
Playboy will continue to publish provocative pictures of women, but they will be PG-13 rated. While they will still feature a "Playmate of the month", the images will be "A little more accessible, a little more intimate."
The magazine will also feature a new "sex-positive" female columnist.
Playboy is seeking to align itself with a younger market alternative publications such as Vice. When the website dropped nudity last year, the age of the average reader dropped from 47 to 30.
Their new target audience is the young male professional: "we're going after the guy with a job," said sex columnist Mr. Jones.
