The plane, Air France Flight 83, departed San Francisco at 3 p.m. Pacific Time (6 p.m. Eastern Time) Monday evening, 11 Alive reported.
Passengers on the plane said the flight was diverted due to a bomb threat, NBC Bay Area reported.

Police were investigating and checking out the plane, NBC Bay Area reported.
"Following anonymous threat, crew of #AF083, decided per safety regulations to land in Montreal as a precaution. Flight landed normally 1/2," Air France Newsroom tweeted.
Another shortly after, "Local authorities carry out inspections. Air France staff is actually taking care of all passengers 2/2."
Another passenger tweeted crew members were calm on board and even bought out ice cream for passengers.
