Thousands demand Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's resignation amid corruption scandal

Thousands attend a protest in front of the National Diet Building in Tokyo to demand the resignation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe over an ongoing corruption scandal.
The Japanese Finance Ministry admitted that it had tampered with documents in the high-profile cronyism scandal. However, former Finance Ministry official Nobuhisa Sagawa stated under oath that Abe and his wife were not involved in the falsification of the documents.
Abe's wife, Akie, stands accused of pushing for the heavily-discounted sale of public land to a right-wing primary school. When the scandal first emerged last year, it caused a slump in the ruling party's approval ratings.
