The Polytechnic, Ibadan, celebrated a major milestone on Monday – securing an operating license for its Radio Station from the National Broadcasting Commission.
The announcement came during a press conference held to unveil the activities planned for the institution's combined 35th-38th convocation ceremony.
Mojeed Lawal, Dean of the Faculty of Financial and Management Studies and Convocation Planning Committee Chairman, shared the news alongside another exciting development – the inauguration of a 72-room office complex aimed at boosting the institution's Internally Generated Revenue.
Both the radio station and the complex will be officially launched by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Friday.
Lawal outlined the week's events, including Jumat and church services held previously, and upcoming activities such as a tree-planting initiative by the 90/93 alumni set.
“Today’s programme is to avail you of the activities lined up for this combined convocation ceremony. Both Jumat and church services were held on Friday, December 8, and Sunday, December 10, respectively.
“On December 14, as part of the activities lined up, a group of alumni of the institution specifically 90/93 set have volunteered to plant trees across the length and breadth of the institution. This will further enhance the beautification of the institution,” he said.
The highlight of the week, however, will be the convocation ceremony itself. Diplomas, certificates, and prizes will be awarded to graduates from the 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
Several key figures were present at the press conference, including Deputy Registrar for Exams and Records Adewunmi Ogunjumi, Chief Liberian Kayode Joseph, and representatives from the Committee of Deans.
