As Muslims across the globe commence this year’s Ramadan, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Chief Dr Alex Ajipe, has called on the Muslim faithful in Nigeria to use the opportunity of the sacred month to seek Allah’s intervention in the numerous challenges facing the country.
Ajipe, in a statement on Tuesday in Akure by his media aide, Solomon Adewoye, said every Ramadan offers Muslims a fresh opportunity for spiritual rebirth, renewed commitment to worship and acceptance of supplications by Allah.
He called on Nigerian Muslims to embrace the spirit of Ramadan wholeheartedly, understanding that challenges are opportunities for growth and spiritual development.
He said: “An average person living in any part of the world deserves to appreciate God for the grace to be alive again in spite of the numerous problems confronting the human race at this difficult time
“I equally want to use this golden opportunity of Ramadan to call on the good people of Ondo State generally to be firm against any act that is capable of throwing our state into turmoil as we approch the governorship election.
"It is important to urge all citizens, especially the good people of Ondo State, to use the auspicious occasion to pray for peace, harmony and tranquility among themselves. And while we are calling for fervent prayers against insecurity and economic hardship ravaging the land, we also urge people to put behind their differences and join hands to restore peace and security in all the nooks and crannies of the state.”
"The observance of the 2024 Ramadan fast holds particular importance for us as a state, It presents a cherished opportunity to pray for our political leaders as we prepare to elect a new governor for our dear state. Let's pray for good leadership, peace and a successful election so that they can provide good governance for our state "
As we undertake this noble spiritual endeavour, I urge each one of us to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Ondo State". Ajipe said
