A 39-year-old woman, Omowumi Aderemi, was on Thursday brought before Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for an alleged impersonation.
Aderemi, whose address was not given, was arraigned on a three count charge of impersonation, obtaining money under false pretence and theft.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Oladejo Balogun told the court that Aderemi allegedly committed the offence sometimes in Dec. 2023, at Ibadan.
Balogun alleged that the defendant falsely represented herself as a staff of O. A Adegoroye Law firm and Co with intent to defraud his clients of the sum of N983, 000.
The prosecutor also alleged that Aderemi forged the signature of the Law Firm and fraudulently stole the sum of N983, 000, belonging to the firm.
He said the offences contravened Sections 484, 467 and 390(6) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till April 23 for hearing. (NAN)
