The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has issued a response to recent remarks made by Senator Aminu Iya Abas criticizing an empowerment program organized by Hon. Aliyu Wakili Boya, a fellow National Assembly member.
The APC attributes Senator Abas’s comments to what it describes as his disconnection from his constituents and his lack of significant legislative accomplishments.
The APC asserts that nearly two years into his term, Senator Abas has yet to deliver any meaningful projects or legislative contributions.
In contrast, Hon. Boya’s empowerment initiative reportedly supported over 11,000 beneficiaries across political lines, exemplifying active and impactful representation.
The party contends that Senator Abas’s criticism is an attempt to divert attention from his own lackluster performance and the achievements of APC members.
They reiterated their commitment to supporting their representatives and empowering communities through similar initiatives.
"The party’s attention has been drawn to Senator Abas’s unfounded remarks at several town hall meetings regarding the mega empowerment program led by Hon. Aliyu Wakili Boya," the APC’s statement read.
"These comments are unsurprising, given Senator Abas’s disconnect with his constituents in the central zone.
"Senator Abas and his party, the PDP, appear unsettled by the high level of performance demonstrated by APC members, particularly Hon. Boya, whose recent empowerment program transparently reached over 11,000 beneficiaries across party lines. Rather than learning from Hon. Boya’s effective approach, Senator Abas has resorted to baseless criticism.”
The statement further noted that "the majority of the electorate agrees that Senator Abas’s term has been unproductive for the people of the central zone. His election was a political accident that the electorate will not repeat."
The APC encouraged Adamawa residents to ignore statements from what it called "destined failures" who attempt to shift blame for their own shortcomings. The party reassured the public of its dedication to fostering a stronger society through future empowerment initiatives, emphasizing that "where others fail, we will succeed."
