As tributes continue to pour in from across Ondo State and Nigeria at large, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has been celebrated by Gboyega Ajayi, a Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, along with the Olabimtan Media Team, for his outstanding contributions to public service as he marks his 68th birthday.
In a statement made available to the press, Ajayi, who serves as one of the top aides to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, described Olabimtan as a rare gem whose legacy cuts across education, politics, labour activism, and grassroots development.
He noted that Olabimtan’s journey has been one of intentional leadership, purpose-driven service, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, especially teachers and young Nigerians seeking opportunities for growth.
“Rt. Hon. Olabimtan has lived a life of impact. From the classroom to the chambers of the Ondo State House of Assembly where he served as Speaker, and now at SUBEB, his story is a reflection of true statesmanship, humility, and excellence,” Ajayi stated.
Olabimtan, who began his career as a teacher in 1983, rose through the ranks to become a school principal before retiring and venturing fully into politics. His election to the Ondo State House of Assembly in 2003 and subsequent emergence as Speaker marked a major turning point in his public service career.
Beyond the legislature, he served as Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and as Federal Commissioner at the Civil Service Commission—where he facilitated employment opportunities for over 1,000 youths across Edo, Ondo, and Ekiti States.
As SUBEB Chairman, he has led initiatives to recruit over 1,100 teachers, reinforcing his long-standing passion for educational reform and youth empowerment.
The Olabimtan Media Team, in a separate birthday message, praised his role as a man builder and icon of peace whose philanthropic spirit and leadership have brought hope to countless communities.
“Your iconic status is a testament to your unwavering commitment to the betterment of those around you. As you celebrate another year, may it be filled with joy, good health, and continued success,” the team said.
They further hailed Olabimtan’s sacrifices as a labour leader, highlighting his advocacy for better conditions for teachers, his resistance against oppressive policies, and his principled stand during tough moments—even at the risk of personal loss.
Known for his humility and grassroots connection, Olabimtan’s political journey includes serving as Director-General of the Akeredolu Campaign Organization in both the 2016 and 2020 governorship elections, helping to deliver victories for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Now serving under the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Olabimtan continues to be a central figure in the state’s educational and development policy, with his SUBEB-led programs being widely applauded.
As he turns 68, his friends, colleagues, political associates, and the public celebrate a man whose life remains an inspiration to generations and a blueprint for public service anchored in integrity and compassion.
