American actor and writer, Steve Guttenberg is divorcing wife Emily Smith after six years of marriage.
The Police Academy star, 66, filed to end his marriage from the news anchor on Friday, April 4, in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The actor cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason behind their split, however, he did not list the date of their separation.
Instead of a specific date, Steve reportedly wrote 'TBD', for 'to be determined' in that section of the documents.
The estranged pair had a prenuptial agreement in place, which will determine the division of any community property assets and debts.
In his filing, Steve agreed to pay Emily spousal support and requested that each party cover their own future legal fees and costs.
Steve and Emily said 'I do' in January 2019 and they do not have any children together.
The two were married in a private ceremony in Malibu after they got engaged in December 2016.
Steve and Emily met on a 'blind date after being set up by WCBS-TV’s Scott Rapoport in 2014'.
Steve was previously married to model Denise Bixler from 1988 to 1992.
The divorce comes less than three months after Guttenberg's Pacific Palisades neighborhood was ravaged by the Palisades wildfire.
The actor was actively trying to lend a helping hand wherever he could. 'At this time I have the choice of sitting down and walking or standing up and doing what I can. I choose to stand and fight. And help,' he told People.
A source also told the outlet that Guttenberg, whose house narrowly survived the initial blazes that have destroyed thousands of other structures, has 'banded together with several neighbors whose homes also made it' to do good.
'They are having meals together, working on getting brush out of the way, trying to put out smoldering fires, and fighting embers in the air,' the insider revealed.
'They have been getting food and necessities, portable heaters, water, through rapid relief groups and sharing everything, and basically are taking care of each other.'
