Hon. Olowa Rewards Chairman’s Cup Champions with N4.5M Cash Prizes


*April 28, 2025 – Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos*

True to his word, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has redeemed his promise to reward the top teams of the 2024 Chairman’s Cup football tournament with cash prizes totaling N4.5 million.

In a celebratory event held today, the winning teams were presented with their cheques: Igbo-Ikate FC, the second runner-up, received N1 million; Onidogbo FC, the first runner-up, was awarded N1.5 million; while the tournament champions, Iba-Oloja FC, took home the grand prize of N2 million.

Hon. Olowa, while presenting the prizes, reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and sports development within the local government. He described grassroots sports as a critical platform for nurturing talent and fostering unity among communities.

Community leaders present at the event — Chief Mubasiru of Igbo-Ikate, Chief Kasali Rasheed of Onidogbo, and Mr. Jabita Adeboye representing the Baale of Iba-Oloja — expressed their appreciation to Hon. Olowa and his cabinet for their consistent support and developmental strides across Ibeju-Lekki.


Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo; members of the Executive Cabinet; Council Manager, Mr. Abiodun Oladipupo Otinwa; and other senior management officials.

The 2024 Chairman’s Cup once again highlights the Olowa administration’s dedication to promoting sports as a tool for community development and youth engagement in Ibeju-Lekki.
