Leadership Newspapers Commends First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Proposes Empowerment Partnership
Abuja, April 22, 2025 — The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has received high praise from Leadership Newspapers for her relentless advocacy and humanitarian interventions aimed at supporting the less privileged across the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the First Lady at the State House in Abuja, the Chairman of Leadership Newspapers, Mrs. Zainab Nda-Isiah, commended Senator Tinubu for her “tireless and selfless service to humanity,” describing her as the “Mother of the Nation.”
According to Nda-Isiah, the visit was an opportunity to personally acknowledge the First Lady’s consistent efforts to uplift vulnerable Nigerians through various initiatives.
During the visit, the Vice Chairman of Leadership Newspapers, Mr. Mike Okpere, introduced an upcoming empowerment initiative by the media organization, and proposed a strategic collaboration with the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The initiative, according to Mr. Okpere, aims to empower at least 1,000 individuals with practical skills in various trades including tie and dye, tailoring, and fishing, with each beneficiary expected to mentor four others — creating a ripple effect that could reach up to 2 million Nigerians.
“Our objective is to foster financial independence and self-reliance through practical vocational training,” Mr. Okpere explained, adding that the program aligns with national efforts to combat poverty and boost productivity.
In response, Senator Oluremi Tinubu welcomed the proposal, emphasizing her readiness to collaborate on any initiative that supports empowerment and sustainable development.
While expressing appreciation for the longstanding support from Leadership Newspapers, the First Lady noted that empowering Nigerians is a task that cannot be left to the government alone, stressing the need for partnerships with private sector players, the media, and civil society organizations.
“The work of nation-building is collective. We all must come together to lift those who are vulnerable and ensure they have a fair chance at life,” she said.
