Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has commended Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State, for his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu.
Wike also expressed his appreciation for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s heartfelt decision to support the President.
He shared these remarks in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, which was signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka.
On Wednesday, Okowa, who was the Vice Presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). He made this move alongside Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other prominent PDP members in Delta State, effectively dismantling the PDP’s presence in the region.
Wike characterized this shift as a further endorsement of the President’s effective governance and dedication to the nation’s progress. He urged other Nigerians to follow suit.
The minister expressed his appreciation, stating, “I commend Okowa and Governor Oborevwori for this commendable decision, which reflects the principles of good governance and President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the unity and progress of Nigeria.
“I have always encouraged people to speak out rather than running around when faced with challenges.
“They have stepped forward at the right moment to show their support for the President, ensuring that the people of the Niger Delta can gain more from the government, and I applaud them for this.
“I am particularly pleased that what I observed before the 2023 presidential election is now being recognized by others, who are joining the ‘Renewed Hope train,’” the minister added.
