Key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convened for a significant stakeholders meeting in the Abia North zone, focusing on strategies to regain power in the state by 2027.
Representatives from the five local governments in Abia North came together, committing to move past the divisive issues that have previously hindered the party.
During the meeting, held at the home of Mandela Obasi, the member representing Ohafia North in the Abia State House of Assembly, PDP Chairman Abraham Amah expressed optimism about the party’s resurgence. He emphasized the goal of reclaiming the State Government House and other elective positions.
Amah stated that the party’s nominations for the 2027 elections would be reserved for candidates who emerge from credible primary elections and demonstrate the ability to win in the general elections.
Amah, who stressed that the era of sentiment and impunity within his party has ended, declared that the PDP has now returned to its roots with the people.
He issued a strong warning to anyone who claims to be a PDP member but acts against the party’s interests, stating that such individuals would face divine repercussions.
During the meeting, the host, Mandela Obasi, who represents Ohafia North in the Abia State House of Assembly, along with Emmanuel Ndubuisi, who represents Bende South, affirmed their commitment to the PDP. They stated they would not abandon the party for another political group, as some of their colleagues have done, but instead focus on securing a brighter future for the PDP.
A communiqué signed by State Chairman Abraham Amah and other leaders stated, “The leaders are fully committed to working diligently to ensure that the PDP reclaims the Abia State Government House in 2027.”
