Adron Homes Refutes FIJ Report, Describes Allegations as Misleading and Malicious
Adron Homes & Properties Ltd. has strongly denied allegations made in a recent report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), which claimed the real estate firm failed to refund payment made by a client, Mr. Solomon Oludare Akinbo, for a plot of land at its Treasure Park and Gardens Phase 2 estate in Shimawa, Ogun State.
In a detailed response released by the company’s management on Friday, May 23, 2025, Adron Homes described the FIJ publication dated May 22 as “misleading, defamatory, and unverified,” and expressed disappointment that the media outlet failed to contact the company for its side of the story before publishing the report.
Setting the record straight, Adron Homes stated that Mr. Akinbo was provisionally allocated a plot in line with company policy, which requires clients to formally declare their readiness to commence construction before final allocation. This, the company explained, is clearly outlined in the Contract of Sale signed by the client, and is part of its strategy to prevent underdevelopment within its estates.
“Mr. Akinbo indicated interest in starting construction and even requested that Adron Homes manage the building project on his behalf,” the company noted. “A design was selected, and a detailed Bill of Quantities was prepared. At no time were the client or his legal representative compelled to accept this arrangement.”
The company dismissed claims that additional or unauthorized payments were solicited, stating that the accusations were completely unfounded and aimed at tarnishing its reputation.
Regarding the refund request, Adron Homes clarified that it maintains a transparent refund policy. This process, also detailed in the signed agreement, requires a written request and submission of a completed refund form, as well as the return of all contractual documents in the client’s possession.
“Despite multiple reminders, Mr. Akinbo and his legal representative have not fulfilled these conditions, thereby stalling the refund process,” the statement said.
Adron Homes also criticized FIJ’s journalistic conduct, accusing the organization of failing to uphold the basic tenets of fair reporting.
“It is regrettable that such a serious allegation was published without allowing us to respond or verify the facts,” the company stated. “This lack of balance has led to the spread of a false narrative that could damage our longstanding reputation.”
In its concluding remarks, the real estate firm demanded the immediate removal of the article from all FIJ platforms, a public retraction, and a written apology. It also called for the publication of a follow-up report accurately reflecting the company’s position.
