A former Commissioner for Health in Enugu State, Dr Samuel Ngwu, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The resignation was confirmed in a letter issued to journalists on Friday in Enugu, which was personally signed by Ngwu.
The letter, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP’s Umunevo Ward 2 in Enugu North Local Government Area, was also copied to the State Chairman of the PDP in Enugu State, Dr Martin Chukwunwike.
Part of the letter read: “This is to notify you of my resignation from the PDP, effective from the 28th of April, 2025. I thank the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for giving me the opportunity to serve my state, Enugu, and my country, Nigeria.”
When reached for comment, Ngwu, who was a PDP Enugu East Senatorial aspirant in the 2011 general elections, said that his reasons for resigning were personal to him.
Ngwu’s political career includes his tenure as Commissioner for Health from 2015 to 2017, his bid for the Senate in 2011, his role as a PDP Enugu State National Delegate from 2011 to 2014, and his candidacy for the Federal House of Representatives in the 2014 general elections.
