Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese and Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, has lauded Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for his unwavering commitment to restoring stability and fostering development across the state.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the governor at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna on Wednesday, Bishop Kukah also commended the governor’s pivotal role in facilitating the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences.
The cleric, who led a delegation from the university management, acknowledged Governor Sani’s exceptional support in fast-tracking the take-off of the newly established institution.
He noted that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Barnabas Qurix, has already engaged key Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure a smooth commencement of academic activities.
Kukah explained that the university, which evolved from the former NOK University, is poised to become a centre of excellence in applied sciences and will commence its academic session in September 2025.
However, he appealed for the state government’s intervention in addressing some critical challenges, including the need for additional infrastructure, access roads, more land for expansion, utility vehicles, and adequate security arrangements to enhance operations and long-term growth.
Responding, Governor Uba Sani expressed appreciation for Bishop Kukah’s steadfast support and affirmed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the institution for sustainable development.
