The Kaduna State Assembly on Thursday confirmed the nomination of Prof. Abubakar Sambo by Gov. Uba Sani as the Commissioner for Education.
Prior to his nomination, Sambo served as the Vice-Chancellor(V-C),!Kaduna State University in 2004, V-C, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi from 1995 to 2004 and Deputy V-C, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto from 1990 to 1994.
He was also the Chairman, Nigerian Committee for Partnership with Brazil on Energy (2007-2008), a Member of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Standing Committee on Research and Development and Coordinator of the Energy Thematic Group (2020), among other portfolios.
The house also confirmed the nomination of Mrs Gloria Ibrahim as the Commissioner, Youths Development.
Ibrahim, who holds a Bachelor of Laws(LL.B)degree from Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria, had practised for 15 years and had served as a Principal Legal Practitioner at Glownom Legal Consult, Kaduna.
The house also passed the Bill for a Law to Amend the Customary Court Law No. 9, 2001, after the Chairman, House Committee’ on Judiciary, Emmanuel Kantiyok, presented a report, which was adopted.
He stated that the purpose of the bill was to make the administration of justice at the customary court level more flexible and enhance the speedy administration of justice.
Similarly, a Bill for a Law to Establish the College of Agricultural Technology , Samaru Kataf, 2024 , was also passed by the house after the Chairman, Joint Committee’ on Education, Agriculture and Judiciary, Mahmud Lawal, presented a report.
The passed bill separates the college from from the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, which was merged during the last administration, enhancing administrative and academic performance.
