The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party says it will field only three chairmanship candidates in the July 12 Local Government election in the state.
Mr Dele Oladeji, Chairman, Accord Party Caretaker Committee in the state, said this in an interview with the Newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.
Oladeji said chairmanship candidates would be fielded for Ikorodu North LCDA, Badagry West LCDA and Somolu LG.
He listed the candidates that emerged at tbe party’s primary as Oluwole Oke(Somolu), Lanre Awolaja(Ikorodu North) and Bola Frederick(Badagry West).
He,however, said the party would field more councillorship candidates in the election.
Oladeji said: “We had our primary on Saturday via consensus after the screening of all candidates and it was a peaceful exercise.
“We adopted consensus because we did not have aspirants in most council areas.
“The primary went well ; we are set for the election.”
He urged candidates to be peaceful and focus on issues during their campaigns.
“Accord is known for peace and rule of law. No candidate should engage in violence and anyone guilty of this will be sanctioned by the party,” he said.
He said that the party, if voted for, would prioritise the welfare of the downtrodden and the poor.
