IGP Egbetokun Commissions Modern Police Workshop, Tactical Assets — Warns Threat Actors

In a bold move to bolster the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Wednesday commissioned a state-of-the-art Police Mechanical Workshop and unveiled 40 new tactical and operational vehicles at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The initiative is part of the IGP’s broader reform strategy to enhance the efficiency, mobility, and combat readiness of police officers in tackling evolving security challenges across the country.
The newly commissioned Police Mechanical Workshop, located in Dei-Dei, Abuja, is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and diagnostic technologies designed to provide top-tier maintenance support for the NPF’s operational fleet. The facility is expected to drastically reduce downtime for police vehicles, ensuring swift deployment during emergencies and sustaining tactical readiness.
Speaking during the ceremony, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the importance of equipping the Force with functional infrastructure to support frontline operations. “This Mechanical Workshop will play a vital role in maintaining the operational efficiency of our tactical vehicles, enabling faster response times and boosting the morale of our officers,” he said.
In addition to the workshop, the IGP commissioned 40 tactical vehicles, including anti-riot water cannon trucks and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), significantly strengthening the Force’s capacity to respond to civil disturbances and organized threats.
Reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to national security, IGP Egbetokun issued a stern warning to individuals and groups threatening the peace and unity of the country. “Let it be known that anyone or group undermining the peace and tranquility of our nation will be met with firm resistance. The Nigeria Police Force will act swiftly, strategically, and without hesitation to neutralize such threats,” he declared.
The commissioning event underscores the Force’s ongoing efforts to modernize policing infrastructure, improve response capabilities, and maintain law and order across all regions of Nigeria.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, reiterated that the new assets reflect the IGP’s unwavering resolve to strengthen internal security and ensure officers are adequately supported to carry out their duties.
With these developments, the Nigeria Police Force takes a significant step forward in improving national security architecture and reaffirming its role as a frontline defender of peace and public safety.
