Tin Can Island Port Command Sets New Record, Generates Over ₦128.4 Billion in May
The Tin Can Island Port Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has continued its impressive performance streak, generating a record-breaking revenue of over ₦128.4 billion in May 2025.
According to data obtained from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Oscar Ivara, the Command raked in a total of ₦128,446,323,224.79 during the month under review. This marks a significant increase when compared to the ₦92,671,603,418.04 generated in the corresponding month of May 2024.
The Command also recorded ₦145 billion in April 2025, a sharp rise from ₦95.5 billion collected in April 2024—further underscoring its consistent growth in revenue generation.
Under the leadership of Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, the Command has demonstrated unwavering commitment to its core mandates of trade facilitation, anti-smuggling enforcement, and revenue collection. Stakeholder engagement within the port has also improved significantly, earning the Command commendation from industry players.
Speaking on the recent feat, Comptroller Onyeka reaffirmed his dedication to seamless revenue generation through the facilitation of legitimate trade. “We encourage genuine trade in line with national interest, but we will not condone any economic sabotage or harmful importation,” he stated.
Since assuming duty, Comptroller Onyeka has aligned the Command’s operations with the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. This alignment has translated into a steady month-on-month increase in performance, especially in revenue mobilisation.
The Command's outstanding results so far in 2025 position it as a key contributor to the Nigeria Customs Service’s broader revenue goals and economic support framework.
