The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) has deployed a disaster relief team to Miyun District in Beijing, one of the areas hardest hit by recent severe flooding in the capital.
In response to the escalating emergency, the RCSC launched a special relief operation on Monday, dispatching 2,000 family relief packages to support evacuation and resettlement efforts. The supplies are intended to assist affected residents with immediate needs as local Red Cross branches work around the clock to manage the crisis.
The intense rainstorms, which triggered flash floods and landslides, have so far claimed 30 lives, including 28 in Miyun and two in Yanqing, according to official reports. The disaster has caused widespread damage to infrastructure, including washed-out roads and power outages, prompting mass evacuations across northern Beijing.
Authorities say emergency teams are continuing rescue and relief operations in full force as efforts intensify to restore normalcy and prevent further casualties.
