The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has restated its commitment to the welfare and dignity of Nigerian military retirees, pledging transparency and fairness in the administration of entitlements.
This is contained in a statement by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sqn. Ldr. Aliyu Mohammed in Abuja on Sunday.
Mohammed said the Chairman of MPB, AVM Abubakar Adamu, gave the assurance when he met with concerned voluntary retirees on Aug. 6 and 8 at the board’s headquarters in Abuja to address grievances over unpaid entitlements.
He said that while several of the listed claims were outside its jurisdiction, the gratuity component, which falls under its mandate, was promptly reviewed.
According to him, the sessions were highly interactive, with the retirees taken through the detailed process of how their gratuities were calculated and all queries addressed.
Mohammed said the meetings were attended by directors of Army, Navy, and Air Force pensions, alongside other senior officers.
He described the meeting as part of an open-door policy to build trust and strengthen relations with the veteran community.
“Under AVM Adamu’s leadership, and guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, the Board will continue to uphold inclusiveness, accountability, and high standards of service delivery to Nigeria’s retired servicemen and women.
“The Board urged all retirees to channel future concerns through official platforms, assuring that matters within its purview would be handled promptly and transparently,” he said.
