No fewer than 14 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection was announced in a statement on Thursday by Comr. Ade Fowowe, media aide to APC chieftain in the area, Hon. Prince Feyisayo Ayodele.
While receiving the defectors, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilisation, Alh. Umar Abdulazeez Al-Amaam, charged them to “work for the success of the APC ahead of the 2027 election.”
He urged them to support the developmental strides of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, whom he described as “a performer.” Al-Amaam added that the Governor would soon receive the defectors formally, stressing that “more opposition members will still join the ruling party.”
According to the statement, the new members pledged loyalty to the APC during a meeting of One Voice Network, a group within the party.
Meanwhile, Hon. Feyisayo Ayodele congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa on his victory at the Supreme Court, describing it as “a triumph for democracy and the will of the people.”
Ayodele urged aggrieved parties to accept the judgment in good faith and work with the Governor “to move Ondo forward.” He added that the verdict was not just for the APC, but for every resident of the state who desires peace, unity, and development.
The APC stalwart also commended the judiciary for “upholding justice and reinforcing the confidence of Nigerians in the rule of law.”
