Abuja, February 12, 2026 – Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Waive, has extended warm congratulations to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his well-deserved recognition as Governor of the Year 2025 by Leadership Newspapers.
The commendation came on Thursday during the 18th Leadership Annual Conference and Awards, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where Governor Oborevwori was formally honoured for his outstanding performance in office.
Speaking at the high-profile event, Hon. Waive described the award as richly earned, declaring that Governor Oborevvori has clearly emerged as “the most performing governor in the country today.” He pointed out that the governor’s achievements have surpassed those of previous administrations in Delta State, setting new benchmarks for governance and development.
Waive lauded the governor’s courage, vision, and deep passion for service, noting that his developmental footprints are now visible across every corner of Delta State. “The legacies being built by the Oborevwori administration will outlive the present generation,” he asserted, emphasizing the enduring impact of the governor’s initiatives in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, security, and economic diversification.
The federal lawmaker stressed that Deltans are proud of their governor’s record, insisting that his performance speaks far louder than any political campaign or rhetoric. “He defines the next level every time. When you think he has defined it, he redefines it to a higher level,” Waive said. He added that the people of Delta State have never had it so good under any previous leadership.
Hon. Waive also highlighted the governor’s upcoming recognition by New Telegraph Newspapers, where he is scheduled to be named Governor of the Year at the New Telegraph 2025 Awards Ceremony taking place on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Lagos. He recalled that Governor Oborevwori had recently received similar accolades from Vanguard Newspapers, underscoring a growing national consensus on the quality and impact of his administration.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that these recognitions would continue to pour in as long as Governor Oborevwori sustains his developmental momentum. He prayed for God’s protection, wisdom, and strength upon the governor to lead Delta State to even greater heights.
Concluding his remarks, Hon. Waive emphasized that the ultimate beneficiaries of the Oborevwori administration’s impactful leadership and people-oriented policies are the citizens of Delta State themselves. “Deltans are the real winners. Every road constructed, every school rehabilitated, every youth empowered, every life touched is a testament to the governor’s commitment to meaningful development,” he said.
The double honours from Leadership and New Telegraph Newspapers, coming on the heels of earlier accolades, further solidify Governor Oborevwori’s national reputation as a high-performing leader. The recognitions reflect widespread appreciation for his inclusive governance style, strategic infrastructure investments, and focus on delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
The 18th Leadership Conference and Awards provided a platform for reflection on governance, leadership, and national development, with Governor Oborevwori’s award serving as a highlight of the event. Stakeholders and political observers have described the back-to-back honours as evidence of a governor who is not only delivering on promises but also raising the bar for leadership excellence in Nigeria.
As Delta State continues to witness visible transformation under the MORE Agenda, the governor’s consistent performance is expected to attract even more national and international attention, reinforcing the state’s position as a model for progressive governance.
Hon. Waive’s heartfelt tribute at the Abuja event captured the mood of pride and optimism among Deltans, who see in their governor a leader dedicated to lasting progress and prosperity for present and future generations.
