WARRI — As Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori prepares to commission the newly completed Omadino Model Technical College in Warri South Local Government Area on Monday, February 2, 2026, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Mr. Clement Siakpere, has hailed the governor’s “giant strides” in revitalizing technical and vocational education across the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, January 31, 2026, in Warri, Siakpere—a former Registrar of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun—described the completion and forthcoming inauguration of the Omadino Model Technical College as a powerful demonstration of the Oborevwori administration’s unwavering commitment to skills-based learning, youth empowerment, and sustainable human capital development.
“The inauguration of the Omadino Model Technical College is not merely the opening of another building; it is a strategic investment in the future of Delta youths,” Siakpere stated. “It provides industry-relevant skills that enhance employability, foster self-reliance, and drive productivity in an economy increasingly defined by technology and innovation.”
He emphasized that the renewed focus on technical and vocational education under Governor Oborevwori aligns with global best practices, where practical skills acquisition is widely recognized as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction. The Omadino facility, he noted, forms a critical pillar of the governor’s MORE Agenda, which places high priority on meaningful development in education, infrastructure, rural advancement, and human capital.
The college—fully equipped with purpose-built workshops, modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and specialized training facilities—meets contemporary standards for technical education. It is designed to produce skilled technicians, artisans, craftsmen, and innovators capable of meeting the demands of Delta’s evolving industrial, oil and gas, agricultural, and emerging digital sectors.
Siakpere pointed out that the Omadino Model Technical College is one of several legacy projects inherited by the current administration and now brought to full completion and operational readiness. Similar institutions recently upgraded or commissioned include technical colleges in Asaba, Effurun, and Obiaruku, reflecting a consistent statewide approach to expanding access to quality vocational training.
“These investments demonstrate the administration’s determination to translate policy commitments into tangible, life-changing outcomes,” he said. “By equipping our young people with relevant skills, we are reducing youth unemployment, curbing social dislocation, and building a more resilient and prosperous Delta State.”
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, confirmed that the inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the college premises in Omadino, Warri South LGA. Guests are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m. The event is anticipated to attract a wide range of stakeholders, including educationists, community leaders, traditional rulers, parents, students, and representatives from industry and development partners.
Siakpere urged Delta youths to seize the opportunities presented by the revamped technical colleges, describing them as viable pathways to personal advancement, economic independence, and meaningful contribution to society. “These institutions offer real alternatives to conventional academic routes,” he said. “They equip students with hands-on competencies that lead directly to employment, entrepreneurship, or further specialized training.”
The Omadino Model Technical College is expected to serve as a regional hub for technical excellence, supporting local industries while aligning with national goals for skills development under the National Policy on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Its curriculum will emphasize practical, demand-driven programs in areas such as welding and fabrication, electrical installation, automobile mechanics, information and communication technology, building construction, and renewable energy technologies.
Siakpere commended Governor Oborevwori for his “proactive, peaceful, and visionary leadership,” which has created a stable environment conducive to project delivery and educational reform. He expressed confidence that the college, once fully operational, would contribute significantly to reducing the skills gap in the Niger Delta and positioning Delta State as a leader in functional, industry-aligned education.
The inauguration marks another milestone in the Oborevwori administration’s drive to strengthen preventive and curative healthcare, expand access to quality education, and promote inclusive economic growth. Stakeholders across Delta State have welcomed the development as a clear signal of government priority on human capital as the foundation for long-term prosperity.
As preparations conclude for Monday’s ceremony, education authorities and community leaders continue to mobilize awareness, encouraging eligible students and parents to explore enrollment opportunities at the Omadino Model Technical College and other upgraded TVET institutions statewide.
