Prominent businessman Obi Cubana has announced his backing for President Bola Tinubu through the City Boy Movement, a youth-focused initiative designed to educate and empower communities for national development.
Speaking during a meeting with the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, Cubana emphasized that the movement is not a political party but rather a platform primarily supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“The unique thing about this movement is that it’s made up of young people, mostly businessmen, not politicians. Our goal is the betterment of our communities,” Cubana said.
He explained that the movement’s work centers on educating, orienting, and reorienting citizens to ensure they are well-informed and aware of the collective path toward progress.
Cubana further highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration with the Federal Government. “Today, we believe in the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We, as young professionals and successful businessmen, have come out to tell our people that we are solidly behind Mr. President and his re-election bid. Every Igbo must be taken to the center. We cannot continue divisive politics,” he stated.
He stressed the need for regional balance and recognition, noting that national development requires attention to infrastructure and connectivity, particularly in areas such as gas and rail.
“There must be balance and recognition of every region, because there is much to be done here. We have to be connected to the gas, to the rail,” Cubana said.
Highlighting the need for constructive engagement with government, he added, “If we are all in opposition to this government, eventually we won’t be remembered. We stand on Bola Tinubu’s mandate. The City Boy Movement is about the progress of Igbo land. Our people lack knowledge, and it is my responsibility to educate them. We stand solidly behind Tinubu.”
Through the City Boy Movement, Cubana and his team of young professionals aim to empower communities, promote civic awareness, and encourage active participation in development initiatives, while consolidating support for President Tinubu’s administration.
