98th Academy Awards: "One Battle After Another" Wins Best Picture, Takes Home Six Oscars in Dominant Night

 

The 98th Academy Awards took place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, hosted by Conan O'Brien for the second consecutive year.

Paul Thomas Anderson's epic drama "One Battle After Another" emerged as the night's biggest winner, securing six Oscars, including the prestigious Best Picture, Best Director for Anderson, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Ryan Coogler's genre-blending "Sinners" made history with a record 16 nominations and claimed four awards, highlighted by Best Actor in a Leading Role for Michael B. Jordan in his dual portrayal and Best Original Screenplay for Coogler. The film also earned Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw.

Jessie Buckley earned her first Oscar, winning Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in "Hamnet", while Amy Madigan took home Best Supporting Actress for "Weapons".
