An airstrike struck the administrative building of the Hosseinieh Azam Zanjan Complex in Iran’s Zanjan province early Tuesday, leaving at least three people dead and 12 others injured, according to local authorities.
Ali Sadeghi, the province’s deputy governor for political, security and social affairs, confirmed that the bodies of three victims were recovered from the rubble following the attack. He added that emergency responders swiftly transported the injured to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Search and rescue operations were still ongoing at the time of reporting, with teams from the Red Crescent, fire services, and municipal agencies working to clear debris and locate any additional victims trapped beneath the wreckage.
The strike caused significant damage to multiple sections of the complex, including the administrative building, guesthouse, library, and a charitable loan fund office. Nearby shops were also affected by the blast.
The incident comes amid escalating regional tensions following the joint offensive launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. Iranian authorities report that more than 1,340 people have been killed since the conflict began, though the figures remain unverified.
In response, Iran has carried out retaliatory drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as locations in Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. The ongoing exchanges have resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and growing instability across the region.
The intensifying conflict has also had wider global implications, disrupting aviation, driving up energy prices, and increasing uncertainty in international markets.
