American rapper Offset has been hospitalised after being shot in Florida. The former member of Atlanta-based hip-hop trio Migos, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was shot on Monday evening, April 6, near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, just outside Miami.
A spokesperson for the 34-year-old musician confirmed the incident, stating that the rapper was shot and is currently receiving medical treatment. According to the representative, he is in stable condition and being closely monitored by medical personnel.
The Seminole Police Department also confirmed that officers responded to an incident at a valet area shortly after 7 p.m., which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
Police said officers arrived promptly and quickly contained the situation, adding that two individuals have been detained in connection with the incident. Authorities further assured the public that the site is secure and that normal operations have continued at the venue.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are ongoing, and further details have not yet been released.
Offset rose to international fame as a member of Migos, the Grammy-nominated hip-hop group that originated in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
