The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has issued an official invitation for the formal declaration of support for Senator Ede Dafinone as the party’s representative in Delta Central Senatorial District.
The notice, signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Onojeghuo, was issued on April 24, 2026, and directed to key party stakeholders across the senatorial district. The invitation was issued under the authority of the State Vice Chairman and Chairman of Delta Central, Paulinus Akpeki.
According to the statement, the event is intended to serve as an “official declaration” of support for Senator Dafinone, who currently represents Delta Central in the National Assembly. The gathering is expected to bring together various levels of party leadership in what is being described as a show of unity and political consolidation within the APC structure in the region.
The invited participants include all State Working Committee members of the party from Delta Central, all State Executive Committee members from the area, as well as local government party chairmen and their executive members across the eight local government areas that make up the senatorial district. Ward chairmen and their executive committees are also expected to attend in large numbers.
The notice emphasised the importance of full participation from party executives at all levels, describing the event as a key moment for strengthening internal cohesion and reaffirming support for the party’s leadership in the district.
The declaration ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Oharisi Primary School in Ughelli, Ughelli. The event is expected to begin at 1:00 p.m.
Party officials said the gathering is aimed at reinforcing unity within the APC and mobilising support for continued political stability and electoral strength in Delta Central. The invitation highlighted the importance of collective participation, stating that the presence of party leaders would contribute to “the continued progress and victory of our great party in Delta Central.”
The APC also referenced its broader political agenda in the state, describing the event as aligned with the party’s “Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E. Agenda,” a slogan associated with governance priorities in Delta State under the party’s political framework.
Political observers note that the formal declaration is a strategic step in consolidating Senator Dafinone’s position within the party ahead of future political contests. It is also seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen party unity and streamline support structures across Delta Central.
Senator Dafinone, who has served as the representative of Delta Central in the National Assembly, has been active in legislative duties and constituency engagement since assuming office. His role in the Senate has included participation in economic and fiscal discussions, as well as constituency-related development initiatives.
The upcoming event is expected to draw significant attention within the state’s political landscape, particularly given the strategic importance of Delta Central in Delta State politics. The district is considered one of the most politically active regions in the state, with strong competition among parties and aspirants.
Party insiders say the gathering will also serve as a platform for reinforcing internal discipline and aligning grassroots structures with the leadership’s direction. Such events are often used by political parties in Nigeria to demonstrate unity and strengthen mobilisation ahead of electoral cycles.
While the notice focuses on internal party coordination, analysts suggest that it also signals continued endorsement of Senator Dafinone’s leadership within the APC structure in Delta Central. The level of attendance and the tone of the event are expected to provide further insight into the party’s cohesion in the region.
As preparations continue, party members across wards, local governments, and state structures are expected to converge in Ughelli for what is anticipated to be a major political gathering within the APC in Delta State.
