Lebanon’s Hezbollah group on Tuesday announced that it carried out 30 military operations targeting Israeli army positions, bases, and troops across southern Lebanon and northern Israel, marking a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities.
In multiple statements, Hezbollah said the operations were conducted “in defense of Lebanon and its people,” noting that the strikes focused on Israeli military sites, troop concentrations, and vehicles along the border, as well as targets deeper inside Israeli territory.
The group said rocket barrages hit several areas in northern Israel, including Zarit, Shlomi, Shomera, Metula, and Nahariya, which it described as areas inhabited by Israeli settlers.
Hezbollah also claimed it struck three Israeli Merkava tanks—one on the Qantara-Taybeh road, which it said was seen burning after being hit by a guided missile; a second in Rashaf, reportedly destroyed; and a third in Tallat Friz in Aita al-Shaab, targeted by a suicide drone that allegedly achieved a direct hit.
Additional targets included a checkpoint in the Misgav Am settlement, an air defense system in Ma’alot-Tarshiha, and groups of Israeli soldiers and vehicles in Avivim, which were hit by repeated rocket fire. The group further stated that it launched a swarm of drones at the Adamit barracks and struck military positions at the Sadr Friz triangle in Aita al-Shaab.
Hezbollah said it also targeted communication and surveillance equipment east of Taybeh, an armored personnel carrier in the same area, and an Israeli unit inside a house in Qouzah using a guided missile. It added that military infrastructure in the Krayot area north of Haifa was also hit.
The group announced strikes on key military bases, including Stella Maris—described as a strategic naval surveillance base—as well as the Nesherim and Tefen bases, using what it called precision rockets and attack drones.
In a separate operation, Hezbollah said it targeted a “high-level Israeli military convoy” in Tallat al-Oweida with rockets and artillery. It also described an ambush on Israeli armored forces advancing into Beit Lif in southern Lebanon, where fighters reportedly detonated explosives and engaged troops with various weapons before launching additional rocket and artillery attacks.
According to Hezbollah, reinforcements arriving at the scene were also targeted with guided missiles, resulting in casualties, including what it claimed was a battalion commander in Israel’s Nahal Brigade. These claims have not been independently verified.
The developments come amid ongoing clashes despite a ceasefire that took effect in November 2024. Israel has continued airstrikes and ground operations in southern Lebanon following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.
Lebanese authorities report that at least 1,247 people have been killed and 3,690 injured in Israeli attacks since the renewed escalation. Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, has maintained that its operations are a response to continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
The intensifying exchanges along the Israel-Lebanon border have heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, as both sides continue to trade attacks with increasing frequency and scale.
