Authorities in Fujairah, located on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates, responded on Monday to an Iranian drone strike that targeted a building belonging to telecommunications company du, according to the state-run Emirates News Agency.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were recorded in the incident, although emergency teams were deployed to secure the area and assess potential damage following the attack.
The strike marked the latest escalation in a widening regional conflict that has increasingly affected Gulf states amid rising hostilities between Iran and its adversaries.
Earlier on Monday, authorities in Abu Dhabi reported a separate security incident in which falling debris struck a facility in the Mussafah industrial area after air defence systems successfully intercepted an incoming aerial threat. According to WAM, one Ghanaian national sustained moderate injuries and received medical attention.
Security officials indicated that the debris resulted from the interception process rather than a direct impact, underscoring the growing risks posed by aerial attacks and defensive operations within populated areas.
The incidents come amid intensifying regional hostilities that began after the United States and Israel launched a joint military offensive against Iran on February 28. Reports indicate that the conflict has resulted in more than 1,340 deaths so far, including Iran’s then-supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has carried out a series of retaliatory drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and several neighbouring countries, including Jordan and Iraq, as well as Gulf nations hosting United States military assets.
Iran has also imposed restrictions on maritime movement through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply is transported. The move has heightened international concern over potential disruptions to global energy markets and maritime security.
Regional analysts warn that the expansion of hostilities beyond direct combat zones signals a dangerous phase in the conflict, with civilian infrastructure and commercial facilities increasingly exposed to security threats.
Authorities in the UAE have reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and protecting critical infrastructure, while continuing to coordinate with regional and international partners to monitor developments.
