The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the complete list of winners from its just-concluded State House of Assembly primary elections. The direct primaries, which were conducted under the Option A4 system across the twenty-nine state constituencies, concluded in an orderly and peaceful manner, producing the party's official flag bearers for the upcoming legislative elections.
The results, announced by party electoral officials, show a mix of experienced lawmakers, grassroots politicians, and professionals who successfully secured the mandates of party faithful in their respective local government areas and constituencies.
In the coastal and southern districts, the current Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, secured a decisive victory to clinch the ticket for the Warri South West Local Government Area. In Burutu Local Government Area, the legislative tickets were split between Hon. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, who emerged victorious in Burutu North, and Pereotu Oloye, who claimed the ticket for Burutu Constituency II.
The keenly contested Sapele Constituency ticket was won by Hon. Perkins Umukoro, while the neighboring Uvwie Constituency officially affirmed Hon. Edafe Emakpor as its consensus candidate following a massive turnout of party members at the ward levels.
The Urhobo-dominated central district saw several high-profile victories. In Okpe Local Government Area, the democratic exercise concluded with Hon. James Augoye securing the ticket for the Okpe DTHA Constituency. Ethiope West was clinched by Hon. Nelson Oghenedoro Owusu, while the immediate past Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, won the ticket for Ethiope East. In Udu Local Government Area, Hon. Benjamin Sharta emerged victorious, while Festus Eseoghene Utuama secured the candidacy for Ughelli South.
The politically vibrant Ughelli North Local Government Area saw its two constituencies divided between Hon. Matthew Onojighofia Omonade Esq, who won Constituency I, and Chief Joseph Okoro, who claimed victory in Constituency II.
In the Isoko nation, the primary election produced clear winners across the two local government areas. Hon. Ashakah Maro Orobosa emerged victorious in Isoko North, while the Isoko South constituencies were split between Lucky Idhoveh, who won Constituency I, and the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Ferguson Ajiroghene Onwo, who secured the ticket for Isoko South II.
Moving to the Delta North senatorial district, the Anioma nation recorded significant outcomes. In Oshimili North, Esewezie Innocent clinched the ticket, while Hon. Barr. Bridget Anyafulu won the candidacy for Oshimili South. The Aniocha South ticket went to Hon. Chief Isaac Anwuzia PhD, while Engr. Fidel Onwodi emerged victorious in Aniocha North.
In the Ika nation, the tickets were secured by Hon. Mrs. Cordilia Anyangwu for Ika South and Hon. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola for Ika North East. In the Ndokwa/Ukwuani axis, Hon. Osamuta won Ndokwa East, High Chief Princewill Olie (Akunede) secured Ndokwa West, and Hon. Chukwudi Dafe emerged as the winner for Ukwuani Local Government Area.
The Warri federal constituency results showed a complete swept of the remaining urban tickets, with Orode Uduaghan securing the candidacy for Warri North. In Warri South, Hon. Austin Uroye won the primary for Constituency I, while Hon. Benson Obire claimed the ticket for Warri South Constituency II. In the riverine Patani Local Government Area, Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod emerged victorious, while Chief (Barr.) Funyei Manage won the primary election for Bomadi.
The leadership of the Delta State APC, through its media channels, praised the maturity, discipline, and sportsmanship displayed by all aspirants and supporters throughout the voting process. The party stated that the successful outcome of the legislative primaries has set a solid foundation for unity as the party shifts its focus to the upcoming governorship primary election.
