GTI HUMAN RIGHTS RALLIES SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR DOUYI DIRI'S FIGHT AGAINST OIL THEFT AND INSECURITY IN BAYELSA STATE.

GUARD TIME INFORMATION (GTI), Human Rights Activists Nationwide, has called on the people of Bayelsa State to continue supporting the administration of Senator Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, in its efforts to promote development, strengthen security, and improve the welfare of citizens.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, the Chairman of GTI, Comrade Bibi Oduku, commended Governor Diri for his commitment to human capital development and his proactive measures in addressing security challenges across the state. He particularly praised the establishment of community-based security networks working in collaboration with government security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

Comrade Oduku also applauded the Governor for selecting Hon. Peter Pereotubo Akpe, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, describing him as a dependable partner in governance who has contributed significantly to the administration's developmental achievements and the promotion of good governance.

GTI further commended the Governor for several landmark projects, including the recently commissioned Yenagoa–Oporoma Road and Bridge, road infrastructure developments across the three senatorial districts, and the establishment of the Bayelsa State Waterways Security Agency. According to the organization, the agency will play a vital role in combating oil theft, illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism, sea piracy, and other criminal activities within the state's waterways, thereby enhancing security and increasing national revenue from crude oil production.

Members of the GTI Bayelsa State Legal Team, including Barrister Judith Miebiotobo, Barrister Aniso Abraham, and Barrister Pere-Ebi Pere, pledged continued legal support for initiatives aimed at promoting peace, justice, and development in the state. They also commended the Governor for the successful implementation of the Bayelsa Independent Power Project at Elebele, Ogbia Local Government Area, noting that the project will stimulate industrial growth, attract investments, and create employment opportunities for residents.

The legal team reaffirmed GTI's commitment to human rights advocacy through public enlightenment, legal education, and the protection of citizens' rights. They emphasized the organization's readiness to support lawful efforts that promote justice, peace, and social harmony across Bayelsa State.

The Bayelsa State Coordinator of GTI, Comrade Laiye Abraham Tueridi, noted that the Governor's developmental projects have been fairly distributed across the various regions of the state. He urged citizens to place the collective interest of Bayelsa above partisan politics and support ongoing efforts to advance the state's development.

Similarly,  Comrade Abraham stated that GTI's independent assessment of major road and bridge projects in the state confirmed that they were executed to acceptable standards. He also disclosed that the organization has commenced its "Abstain from Drugs and Crime Awareness Programme", aimed at discouraging substance abuse and other social vices among young people.

Similar, the State Secretary, Comrade Tume Kendrick Azaselebo reiterated the directive of the GTI Chairman to all state coordinators and executives nationwide to collaborate with security agencies in tackling insecurity and promoting peace within their respective communities.

In his closing remarks, Comrade Bibi Oduku urged the people of Bayelsa State to continue supporting the Diri administration, noting that its policies and programmes are already attracting local and international investments. He stressed that peace, security, and responsible citizenship are essential for sustainable development and called on residents to shun criminal activities capable of undermining the state's progress and future prosperity.
