....Intensify Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead of 2027
Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a strong call for unity, reconciliation, and aggressive grassroots mobilisation across the council area.
Speaking at the meeting, the Uvwie Council Chairman, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, JP, charged party executives at all levels to redouble efforts in taking the message of the APC to the grassroots, stressing that elections are won at the ward and polling unit levels.
According to him, the responsibility of every executive is to ensure that the achievements and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are effectively communicated to residents across the various wards in Uvwie.
The endorsement was made during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Uvwie on Saturday, which brought together members of the local government executive committee, ward executives from across the area, party leaders, and stakeholders. The meeting focused on strengthening party structures, consolidating unity among members, and positioning the APC for electoral success in 2027.
He charged party executives to intensify grassroots mobilisation, emphasizing that elections are won and lost at the ward and polling unit levels.
Ofoni said party leaders and executives must take responsibility for promoting the ideals and programmes of the APC, while ensuring that residents in every ward are adequately informed about the achievements of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
He noted that strengthening the party structure at the grassroots would ultimately translate into electoral victories across the state.
“The work starts with us here. If our wards are strong, the LGA is strong, and Delta will deliver for APC,” he said.
The council chairman assured members of the support of the local government administration for party activities and encouraged continuous interaction between executives and party members to sustain momentum ahead of future elections.
He further advised ward leaders to maintain close contact with constituents and intensify efforts aimed at attracting more support for the party.
Speaking during the meeting, APC Chairman in Uvwie Local Government Area, Comrade Sylvester Oghenevwede, called on party faithful to remain united and rally behind candidates presented by the party. He described the programmes and policies being implemented by President Tinubu at the federal level and Governor Oborevwori in Delta State as beneficial to the people, expressing confidence that the party would record significant victories in the next electoral cycle.
According to him, the APC in Uvwie was committed to translating the achievements of both administrations into political gains in 2027 through effective grassroots engagement and sustained mobilisation.
“The time for division is over. We must support the candidates our party presents and work to ensure victory at every level,” Oghenevwede said.
He urged executives at both the local government and ward levels to return to their respective communities and begin immediate sensitisation and voter engagement, stressing that unity within the party remained essential to achieving success.
In his remarks, prominent party stakeholder, the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Hon. Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, stressed the need for loyalty to party decisions and called on members to avoid actions capable of undermining the unity and stability of the APC.
He urged executives at both the local government and ward levels to forgive grievances arising from previous political activities and embrace reconciliation for the overall interest of the party.
According to him, internal harmony and mutual understanding among members would strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Let us put the past behind us and focus on the task ahead. A house divided cannot stand,” he said.
Ighrakpata also advocated regular meetings among party structures at the ward and local government levels, noting that such engagements would provide opportunities to address disagreements early, keep members informed, and sustain political momentum.
The APC candidate for house of representatives for Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie, Hon. Chief Ramson Onoyake (JP) advocated for grassroot mobilization and support for all the candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
Participants unanimously pledged to work for the re-election of President Tinubu and to continue supporting Governor Oborevwori’s administration in Delta State, while also resolving to align with the decisions and directives of the party leadership at the state and national levels.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, with executives pledging to work closely with the state and national leadership of the APC to ensure that Uvwie delivers overwhelmingly for the party in the next general elections.
Those in attendance described the gathering as a demonstration of the party’s organisational strength in Uvwie and evidence that preparations for the 2027 elections had already commenced.
With all ward executives represented at the meeting, party leaders expressed confidence that the structures required for mobilisation and expansion were firmly in place.
Members who attended the gathering noted that the emphasis placed on unity, reconciliation, and grassroots engagement would help address lingering internal differences and improve the party’s chances in future elections.
The meeting is one of several local government engagements aimed at harmonising party structures and strengthening support bases ahead of the next electoral contest.
As the countdown to 2027 gradually begins, APC leaders in Uvwie say their focus will remain on building stronger grassroots networks, promoting party programmes, and ensuring that members remain united in pursuit of electoral success at all levels.
