Jubilant Residents Hail Oborevwori As Emorock Concepts Completes 4.8km Emevor-Orogun Road Phase II

Excitement and appreciation filled the air in Emevor and adjoining communities in Isoko North Local Government Area as residents hailed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the completion of Phase II of the 4.8-kilometre Emevor-Orogun Road by indigenous construction firm, Emorock Concepts Limited.

The commendation came during an inspection of the project by the Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to opening up rural communities through strategic infrastructure development.

Aniagwu described the completion of the road as another practical demonstration of Governor Oborevwori's M.O.R.E Agenda, particularly its focus on Meaningful Development and Opportunities for All.

According to him, the project has significantly improved accessibility, enhanced economic activities and strengthened connectivity between communities in the area.

The Commissioner reserved special praise for Emorock Concepts Limited, describing the company as one of the indigenous contractors proving that local firms possess the expertise, capacity and technical competence required to execute major infrastructure projects to the highest standards.

He noted that the quality of work delivered by the contractor justified the confidence reposed in indigenous firms by the state government, stressing that local contractors have continued to distinguish themselves through professionalism, timely project delivery and strict adherence to specifications.

Aniagwu said he was particularly impressed by the road's neat finishing, structural stability and overall aesthetics, adding that the project stands as evidence that competent indigenous contractors can compete favourably with any construction company in the country.

According to him, Emorock Concepts Limited and several other indigenous contractors handling projects across Delta State have continued to demonstrate remarkable capacity in delivering durable and high-quality infrastructure that meets government expectations and serves the needs of the people.

He explained that the successful execution of the Emevor-Orogun Road required extensive engineering interventions, including massive earthworks, drainage construction and the replacement of unsuitable soil materials in swampy sections of the corridor.

The Commissioner disclosed that specialised equipment, including swamp buggies, had to be deployed in some sections to overcome difficult terrain and ensure the project met approved engineering standards.

He commended the contractor for completing critical earthworks and stone base construction ahead of the peak rainy season, a development that enabled the project to maintain momentum despite weather-related challenges.

"On the whole, I am very impressed with the amount of work done and the quality of execution. The contractor worked according to schedule and was able to overcome weather-related challenges because the earthworks and stone base were completed early enough before the peak of the rainy season," Aniagwu stated.

He added that the contractor also successfully completed the binder course within schedule, ensuring steady progress towards the project's completion.

The Commissioner, however, directed the contractor to carry out immediate desilting of blocked drainage channels and complete outstanding concrete works at designated discharge points to facilitate the effective evacuation of stormwater into adjoining swamps.

He also ordered the replacement of a few damaged concrete slabs, explaining that the defects resulted from premature use of the structures by some residents before the concrete had attained full strength.

Aniagwu emphasized that drainage systems are designed based on engineering surveys and technical requirements rather than visual considerations, warning residents against blocking drainage channels with sand or other materials for personal convenience.

According to him, such practices obstruct water flow and could ultimately compromise the lifespan and integrity of road infrastructure.

The Commissioner disclosed that road markings and other finishing components would be completed before the project is recommended for commissioning by Governor Oborevwori.

During the inspection, residents expressed profound appreciation to the governor for the project, describing it as transformative for their communities.

Aniagwu recounted a touching encounter with a visually impaired resident who, despite not being able to see the road, expressed gratitude for the smoothness of the pavement and the positive impact it had already made on transportation within the area.

He said the resident's remarks reflected the widespread appreciation among community members and underscored the direct benefits of the governor's rural development initiatives.

Reaffirming the administration's commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, Aniagwu assured residents that more road projects would continue to be delivered across the state as Governor Oborevwori remains focused on connecting rural communities, improving livelihoods and accelerating development in every part of Delta State.

Emorock Concepts Limited Project Director, Engr. Oghale Agelebe, thanked the Delta State Government and the host communities for their support in the successful delivery of the project, assuring that all observations raised by the Commissioner would be promptly addressed ahead of the project's inauguration.

He noted that the project was executed on a very challenging terrain but attributed its successful completion in record time to the unwavering support and cooperation of the state government and the Isi-Emevor communities.

"It was a very difficult terrain, but with the support and cooperation of the state government and the Isi-Emevor communities, we were able to overcome the challenges and deliver the project within record time," he said.
