BAUCHI, Nigeria — Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has officially thrown his political weight behind his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, declaring that the Allied Peoples Movement is fully equipped to lead the country to greater heights should Makinde emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
Governor Mohammed made the assertions on Friday in Bauchi while hosting Makinde, who is contesting as the presidential flagbearer for the Allied Peoples Movement in the upcoming general elections. Mohammed emphasized that the political platform has successfully developed the necessary internal capacity to provide high-quality national leadership and is steadily establishing its presence as a credible, major force for national development.
During the high-profile visit, the Bauchi State chief executive expressed immense confidence in Makinde’s administrative capabilities, stating that with the Oyo State governor working tirelessly as the presidential candidate alongside the support of the party's leadership, the organization is well-positioned to drive the nation forward. He further explained that the party is purposefully repositioning its structures to offer viable, institutional solutions to the country’s current socio-economic challenges, adding that the party is steadily emerging as Nigeria’s leading opposition voice committed to constructive alternatives.
The Bauchi governor also noted that the consultative meeting aligned with a long-standing tradition of peer review and strategic collaboration among sub-national leaders aimed at elevating governance standards across individual states. He expressed deep admiration for the aggressive infrastructure drive currently taking place in Oyo State, revealing that he has personally drawn valuable insights from Makinde’s approach to governance, particularly regarding the visible transformation of regional roads and aviation facilities.
Speaking earlier on the core purpose of his visit to the Northeast state, Governor Makinde explained that he traveled to Bauchi to consult directly with Mohammed on pressing national issues, including internal party arrangements, widespread regional insecurity, and the broader future of democracy across Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to the government and people of Bauchi State for their exceptionally warm hospitality, noting that he shares a deep, foundational ideological bond with Mohammed. Makinde described the closed-door consultation as highly productive, stating that he had been fully briefed and would be taking back strategic ideas to implement within his own state administration.
