The Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP), has commended the Wife of the Governor of Delta State and Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, for organizing a free medical outreach for children with special needs across Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie Local Government Areas.
The outreach programme, held at Osubi Secondary School, brought together families, healthcare professionals, government officials, and other stakeholders in a united effort to improve the health and well-being of children living with autism and other special needs.
Organized under the banner of the *You Matter Charity Foundation* , with the inspiring motto, "Everybody is Somebody," the initiative demonstrated the Foundation's unwavering commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in access to quality healthcare, education, and social support.
The programme featured free medical check-ups, free medications, nutritional education, distribution of wheelchairs, educational materials, food items including bags of rice and assorted fruits, as well as an enlightening lecture titled "Nourishing the Next Generation: Why Childhood Nutrition Must Be a State Priority."
The outreach reflected a deep commitment to promoting the health, dignity, inclusion, and welfare of children with special needs while providing much-needed support to their parents and caregivers.
The event was attended by the Chairmen of the three benefiting local government councils, including Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP) of Uvwie, Hon. Isaiah Onoriode of Okpe Local Government Council, and Chief Hon. Bright Afure Abeke of Sapele Local Government Council, alongside their wives and other distinguished guests, healthcare practitioners, community leaders, and stakeholders.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni (JP) expressed profound appreciation to Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, describing the initiative as a life-changing intervention that has brought hope, healing, and renewed confidence to hundreds of children and their families.
He applauded the First Lady for her compassion, selfless service, and unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes through the You Matter Charity Foundation, noting that the outreach aligns with the Delta State Government's commitment to improving healthcare delivery and promoting social inclusion.
According to Ofoni, initiatives such as the free medical outreach complement the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, particularly in the areas of meaningful development, improved healthcare, and enhanced quality of life for the people of Delta State.
The Uvwie Council Chairman also thanked the medical professionals, volunteers, development partners, organizers, and all dignitaries who contributed to the success of the programme, describing their collective efforts as a shining example of what can be achieved through partnership and genuine concern for humanity.
He noted that children with special needs deserve equal opportunities to live healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives, adding that society has a collective responsibility to provide them with the care, support, and inclusion they deserve.
Hon. Ofoni urged parents and caregivers to continue giving their children the necessary love, attention, and encouragement while taking advantage of opportunities that promote early diagnosis, quality healthcare, education, and rehabilitation services.
