In a definitive policy statement on the operational philosophy of his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asserted that his government is strictly focused on delivering tangible, high-impact development results rather than merely occupying executive offices. The President insisted that the wave of ongoing, rapidly completed infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory serves as an undeniable reflection of his administration's deep structural commitment to systematically improving the socio-economic lives of ordinary Nigerians.
The Commander-in-Chief shared these perspectives on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, through the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who represented him as the special guest of honor during the official inauguration and handover ceremony of the newly constructed Akinwumi Ajibola Street. The critical urban renewal project comprises Important Local Streets (ILS) 16, 18, and 19, located within the fast-developing Gaduwa District of the municipal area in Abuja. President Tinubu noted that the successful completion of the road network symbolises his government’s unwavering resolve to restore critical community access and fulfill its campaign promises under the banner of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Addressing a gathering of community leaders, traditional rulers, area council administrators, and residents, the Senate President delivered the executive address with deep emphasis on the government's metric for measuring performance.
> “We are gathered here today to formally open a road, but more importantly, we are here to restore vital access to this thriving neighborhood,” the President’s representative stated during the keynote address. “Under the framework of our Renewed Hope Agenda, we stated clearly from the very first day: we did not come to occupy space in the chambers of power. We came to work for the people. Today, that solemn promise is physically visible on these beautifully paved streets. In this government, we do not measure our success by long speeches; we measure ourselves strictly by finished work. This newly completed street stands as a proud testament to finished work.”

The President stressed that his administration has successfully eliminated the historic plague of abandoned projects by implementing a strict fiscal strategy that guarantees prompt, uninterrupted funding for contracted public works. In return, the executive branch has consistently demanded timely, uncompromising execution from engineering firms.
He explained that the comprehensive delivery of Akinwumi Ajibola Street—which features modern asphalt lanes, robust concrete drainage systems, and solar-powered streetlights—demonstrates the federal government’s refusal to settle for substandard infrastructure. According to the presidency, the newly opened network will immediately improve local transportation, drastically reduce daily travel times, lower vehicle maintenance costs for motorists, boost property values in Gaduwa District, and restore civic dignity to the residents who live and do business in the area.
Furthermore, President Tinubu utilized the national platform to pour rich encomiums on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, praising his leadership style and administrative drive. The President commended Wike for aggressively improving project delivery timelines across the territory since taking office.
Crucially, he praised the FCT Minister for ensuring that the ongoing infrastructure revolution is not confined merely to the elite city centers, but is being actively extended to out-of-center districts, remote satellite towns, and rural area councils. By executing a decentralized development strategy, the Minister has ensured that no community or demographic is left behind or isolated from the national grid of progress.
Concluding his address, the President issued a passionate appeal to the residents of Gaduwa District and the wider FCT populace, urging them to take active ownership of public infrastructure. He stressed that massive government projects, no matter how well-built, would only endure for generations if properly protected and maintained by their host communities.
He advised residents to guard the new streetlights against vandalism, keep the drainage channels free from indiscriminate refuse disposal, and protect the road surface from activities that could compromise its lifespan, ensuring that the collective investment of the state continues to pay long-term dividends.
