ABUJA, Nigeria — The senator representing the Borno South Senatorial District, Mohammed Ali Ndume, stated that the re-emergence of Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 general elections has significantly boosted the All Progressives Congress's prospects of retaining executive power.
Ndume made the remarks on Saturday following a solidarity visit to Vice President Shettima at his official residence. The meeting was arranged to congratulate the Vice President on his formal selection as the ruling party's vice-presidential candidate for the upcoming election cycle. According to the federal lawmaker, President Tinubu’s decision to maintain the current ticket reflects deep institutional confidence in the Vice President’s leadership style, personal loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the goals of the current administration.
The Borno lawmaker emphasized that as leaders and indigenes of Borno State, it is only fitting to celebrate and support one of their own. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for once again choosing Kashim Shettima as his running mate, calling it a wise and strategic decision that reflects confidence in his leadership and will further strengthen the All Progressives Congress's chances in the 2027 elections.
Ndume further noted that Shettima’s extensive political experience, long-standing commitment to public service, and dedication to the foundational ideals of the All Progressives Congress have allowed him to continuously secure the trust of both party stakeholders and the broader Nigerian electorate.
