Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as prudent financial management and fiscal discipline, saying the governor's careful deployment of public resources has accelerated infrastructure and socio-economic development across the state.
Tonukari spoke when members of the Ethiope East chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Isiokolo ahead of the group's inauguration scheduled for July 24, 2026.
According to the commissioner, Governor Oborevwori's commitment to accountability, transparency and responsible fiscal management has enabled the state government to execute major projects in critical sectors without placing undue pressure on the state's finances.
"Our governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has demonstrated exceptional prudence in the management of public funds. His disciplined approach to governance has made it possible for the state to undertake and complete impactful projects across different sectors while maintaining fiscal stability," Tonukari said.
He attributed the achievements recorded by his ministry and the state government to the governor's visionary leadership and unwavering support, stressing that the administration's development strides were products of effective planning and judicious use of available resources.
The commissioner reaffirmed the state government's commitment to sustaining investments in education and other strategic sectors in line with the administration's development agenda.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Chief Julius Eguvwebere, said the visit was to appreciate Tonukari for his contributions to the development of Ethiope East Local Government Area and to express confidence in his leadership.
Eguvwebere said the commissioner had made significant developmental impacts across the council's 11 wards and commended his commitment to the growth of education and community development.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to mobilising grassroots support for the policies and programmes of both the Delta State Government and the Federal Government.
The visit ended with both parties expressing optimism that sustained collaboration between government and community-based groups would further advance development and strengthen citizen participation in governance.
