Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has called on leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State to strengthen party unity, intensify grassroots mobilisation and work collectively towards securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Dafinone made the call during a consultation meeting with APC leaders, candidates and stakeholders at Festus Keyamo Hall in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, where he emphasised the need for sustained engagement with voters and the strengthening of the party's structures across the local government.
The senator said the 2027 elections would require a coordinated effort by party leaders and members, urging stakeholders to close ranks and place the overall interest of the APC above individual considerations.
He also called for the reconciliation of party members who may have become aggrieved, disappointed or disengaged following the APC primary elections, stressing that every member had a role to play in the party's efforts to win the forthcoming elections.
According to him, the party could not afford to leave anyone behind as it prepares for the 2027 polls, noting that unity and inclusiveness would be essential to building a formidable political structure capable of delivering victory across the various electoral constituencies.
Dafinone further urged APC members in Uvwie to mobilise support for all the party's candidates, beginning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential level, through candidates contesting for seats in the National Assembly and the Delta State House of Assembly.
He said the success of the party would depend largely on its ability to maintain regular contact with voters and establish strong relationships with communities across the local government.
Speaking at the meeting, the Uvwie APC Chairman, Comrade Dickson Sylvester Oghenevwede, congratulated Dafinone on emerging as the party's senatorial candidate and described his candidacy as a collective project for APC members and the people of Delta State.
Oghenevwede said the 2027 election should not be regarded as Dafinone's personal battle, but as a contest that would test the strength, unity and organisational capacity of the APC and its leadership.
He assured the gathering that the Uvwie chapter of the party remained committed to mobilising voters and delivering support for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, JP, said APC stakeholders in Uvwie had intensified their mobilisation activities and engagement with residents across different communities.
Ighrakpata noted that the party's outreach had extended beyond indigenous communities to include residents from Arewa, Igbo, Hausa and other non-indigenous groups living in Uvwie.
He said the objective was to build broad-based support for the APC by engaging eligible voters across the local government and ensuring that the party's message reached communities and different segments of the electorate.
The APC candidate for Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Ramson Onoyake, JP, also called on party members and supporters to work collectively for the success of Dafinone, himself and other APC candidates.
Onoyake urged eligible voters to support the APC from the presidential election through the National Assembly contests and down to the Delta State House of Assembly, describing the various contests as interconnected parts of the party's overall electoral objective.
Similarly, the APC candidate for Uvwie State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Edafe Emakpor, urged party leaders and stakeholders to intensify voter mobilisation and community-level engagement ahead of the elections.
Emakpor stressed that victory would depend on the collective efforts of party members, candidates, leaders and supporters, particularly those operating at the grassroots.
In his remarks, the Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief P.D.O. Akpeki, said unity, cooperation and effective grassroots engagement would remain critical to the party's success in the 2027 elections.
Akpeki urged candidates and party leaders to work closely with APC members across the senatorial district, stressing the importance of maintaining a united front throughout the electoral process.
He said the APC's objective was to deliver all its candidates in the 2027 elections and expressed optimism that Delta State could emerge as one of the leading states in terms of support for President Tinubu's re-election bid.
The consultation meeting brought together APC leaders, candidates and stakeholders from Uvwie and provided an opportunity for the party's leadership and candidates to discuss mobilisation, unity and the strengthening of grassroots structures.
The engagement formed part of Dafinone's ongoing consultations with APC stakeholders as he seeks to consolidate party unity, reconnect with members and strengthen the mobilisation network ahead of the 2027 general elections.
With the political activities ahead of the 2027 polls expected to intensify, the senator's appeal for reconciliation and collective action underscored the importance of a united party structure in Uvwie and across Delta Central.
