In the journey of life, we are often faced with new challenges. And when they come, we can be so overwhelmed that we forget past victories and our courage may fail. One of the provisions God made for us to be able to get through difficult times is recalling past deliverance and the faithfulness in the ages past. We are however not alone in this. When the apostles were faced with concern over bread (though that was not the essence of what Jesus was talking to them about), Jesus encouraged them to think back: “Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and many large baskets you took up? ”
We are also cautioned against hypocrisy. Hypocrisy has to do with double standards, pretence and insincerity. Christ does not expect this of one who is His follower. Jesus condemned the Pharisees and Sadducees because of it. He will not spare us either. Check your sincerity of heart today as you interact with people. Do not say with your mouth to others what you do not mean in your heart.
