Emotional Taylor Swift reached out to by Gaga

The singer explained that the reason her mother got a test in the first place was as a Christmas present to her daughter.

'For Christmas this year, I asked my mom that one of her gifts to me be her going to the doctor to get screened for any health issues, just to ease some worries of mine,' Taylor explains.
'She agreed, and went in to get checked. There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it.'

Taylor Swift announced on Thursday that her 57-year-old mother Andrea was battling cancer.
'I'm writing to you with an update I wish I wasn't giving you, but it's important and I'm used to sharing important events in my life with you,' the 25-year-old songbird wrote on her Tumblr page. 'I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.'
Within hours her friend Lady Gaga was wishing her well. 'God bless you and your mama and family, we'll all be praying @taylorswift13,' the 29-year-old wrote.

The Poker Face added an emoticon of a bouquet of flowers.
Gaga and Swift have been friends for under a year. In the fall Gaga praised the former country star while on The Howard Stern Show.
'We met a few times, and I can't say anything bad about her,' she said. 'What she doesn't know [is] I was at the AMAs or something. Her and I were sitting next to each other and she goes, "Oh my God! I love Artpop. I love Applause and Applause is my favorite song."'
She continued, 'I was thinking, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. This chick is full of s-t." But then my buddy called me, Brandon, who's my stylist, and she was doing a shoot and he was styling her. He goes, "Taylor Swift is in her blasting Artpop so loud, and she is dancing and she's posting."
'I thought to myself, "I like this girl." You know why? Because she said the same thing to my face that she said behind my back. Yeah, I like her.'
The 1989 hit maker also shared with her fans: 'I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know.
'She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they've got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle.
'She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. She's got an important battle to fight,' Taylor, who is currently dating Calvin Harris, added.

Taylor also explained that she decided to tell her fans her feelings and emotional experience via Tumblr rather than through her usual method of song because 'this is something my family and I thought you should know about now.'
Swift has a loving relationship with Andrea, once saying: 'She's always been the friend that was always there. There were times when, in middle school and junior high, that I didn't have a lot of friends. But my mom was always my friend.'
The blonde beauty's song The Best Day, which appears on her second studio album Fearless, is about her close relationship with Andrea.
It was reported last year that Taylor's mother has separated from her father Scott and were living separately and keeping the split private to protect their daughter's career.
The singer's publicist has declined to comment further.
