John and Lisa Robinson live in the small town of Munford. John Robinson works in information technology and Lisa has been employed at a dermatologist's office in Memphis. The couple are in their mid-50s.
Neighbours Roy and Mary Sue Smith say they have lived next door to the Robinsons since about 1995. Theirs is a quiet, close-knit neighbourhood of well-kept single-family homes.
The Robinsons' daughter, Tiffany, who is in her 20s and lives nearby, is a recent graduate of Murray State University in Kentucky. The Robinsons' son, Adam, is an electrician.
The Robinsons appeared on the Today show and claimed to have one of the winning tickets.
The Mayor of Munford, Dwayne Cole, says he knows the Robinsons and believes that, unlike past lottery winners, they will not squander their money.
Mr Cole says the Robinsons are "deeply rooted Munford citizens", whose parents also lived in the town.
They appreciate community and family values and have always lived within their means, he says.
The other winning tickets were sold in California and Florida.
