The Trotters - mother and father Sharon and William, sons James and Trent, James' wife Erin and another relative, David Bowman - packed into the witness box at Sydney's Downing Centre on Monday.
William, or Bill, Trotter, 66, describes himself on Facebook as a bookmaker, James, 28, is a plumber and Trent, 26, a former under-20s rugby league player with the South Sydney Rabbitohs who has more recently played in Western Australian.
Trent Trotter also featured in a proposed reality television program which centred on the lives of young people in inner city Sydney.
As their lawyers took turns at the bar table and the Crown prosecutor applied to move to a larger court, there was relaxed banter between the Trotters and each of their six barristers.
On Monday, a court officer arraigned each of the family on charges in clusters according to when the alleged sale of heroin or cocaine took place.
A total of 23 charges relating to at least 35 alleged occasions of drug supply have been laid against the family.
Erin Trotter was arraigned on just one charge of alleged cocaine supply.
Each defendant entered pleas of not guilty to each charge in the court before Judge Donna Woodburne.
Sharon Rae Trotter and her sons Trent and James were charged with knowingly taking part in the supply of not less than an indictable amount of heroin between December 1, 2013 and February 22, 2014.
Sharon Trotter was also charged with supplying heroin at Rosebery on three or more separate occasions between December 7, 2013 and January 7, 2014.
Bill Trotter was charged with supplying cocaine on three or more separate occasions at Rosebery between January 12 and February 12 in 2014.
Police allege that Bill, Trent and James Trotter knowingly took part in supplying cocaine in Sydney between December 1, 2013 and February 22, 2014.
Police also allege Trent Trotter supplied heroin on three or more separate occasions for financial or material reward between December 15, 2013 and January 15, 2014.
James Trotter is charged with allegedly supplying heroin for financial reward in Sydney on three or more separate occasions between December 7, 2013 and January 7, 2014.
Police allege that James Trotter also supplied cocaine on three or more separate occasions between January 12 and February 12, 2014.
Erin Trotter is facing a single charge of knowingly taking part in the supply of 1.5 grams of cocaine at Mascot on January 24, 2014.
James Trotter is charged with allegedly supplying 6.23 grams of cocaine at Mascot on February 21, 2014.
David Leslie Bowman is charged with seven counts of allegedly supplying not less than an indictable amount of heroin and one count of supplying 13.9 grams of heroin, in periods falling allegedly between November 2013 and January 2014.
