US President Donald Trump posts fake Abraham Lincoln quote, decries media for ‘fake’ news

US President Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump posts a fake quote by former President Abraham Lincoln to commemorate his birthday.
The new president shared a photo on Instagram on Sunday, captioned “HAPPY BIRTHDAY Abraham Lincoln!!!”
The improperly attributed quote and the photo were also released by the Republican National Committee (RNC).
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years,” wrote the former reality TV star.
The quote comes from a 1947 book advertisement about aging by Dr. Edward Stieglitz and there is no evidence Lincoln ever said such a thing, according to Quote Investigator, a website that tracks the source of quotes.
Meanwhile, Trump accused the media again of spreading “fake” news about him.
The New York billionaire, who spent the weekend with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, spoke of huge non-existent crowds of his supporters at the resort as he was leaving for Washington, DC.
“Just leaving Florida. Big crowds of enthusiastic supporters lining the road that the FAKE NEWS media refuses to mention. Very dishonest!” wrote the real estate tycoon.
There was no evidence of any crowd at the resort, according to a pool report, saying only "a couple dozen" protesters gathered there for the weekend.
The new commander-in-chief kicked up a similar fuss about crowds gathering for his inauguration ceremony as the 45th president of United States last month.
